Mayenne is a department in the Pays de la Loire. Situated south of Normandy and east of Brittany.
As yet it is relatively undiscovered in comparison to its neighbours.
The cottage is in a little Hamlet which a short walk from the village of Saint Mars sur Colmont and it is surrounded by beautiful countryside. You can relax in the splendid isolation of the French countryside and unwind from the troubles of life. Alternatively you could throw yourself into lots of sight seeing and energetic adventures from this well situated base.
Situated 1 ˝ hours south of Caen, 2 ˝ hours from Cherbourg or 4 hours south-west of Calais by car. We are easy to get to and offer easy access to some of France's most loved tourist sites (Mont St Michel, Bayeux, Le Mans etc) as well as some of France's best kept secrets.
Locally you can enjoy great cycling (bikes are
available by prior arrangement), visit local markets for great shopping or for the more energetic…. Swimming, Fishing, Water sports, Tennis and Mini Golf are all within a 10 minute drive.
Further afield Medieval towns are common place and days out can be enjoyed at Zoos, Aquariums, Atlantic coast beaches and World War II beaches to name but a few.
For a real visual treat Mont St Michel is only 1 hour away by car and if your weakness is fast cars Le Mans is only 90 mins away.
For culture vultures Bayeux is only a 2 hour drive away and a chance to view the Bayeux tapestry is a "must not miss" opportunity.
The many other attractions locally are too many to list but if good food and wine and great
restaurants are the order of the day then you will be truly spoilt for choice.
If you really want to see the sights then Paris is a 3 hour drive or 2 hours using the T.G.V. train
service from Laval.
